Vertical Masthead Units

By extending the sensor to between 80 and 180cm above the masthead these vertical units take the wind speed and angle sensors away from the turbulence created by the sails, rigging and other masthead equipment.  The result is more accurate wind information which in turn translates into improved racing decisions both inshore and offshore.
 
The enhanced accuracy of the wind information also improves the steer-to-wind performance of a Pilot.    The B&G Vertical Masthead Units connect directly into the WTP3 CPU (central processing unit) and are watertight to IP66.
 
Built to a design proven across the oceans of the world, the high modulus carbon spar minimises weight at the masthead resulting in the units weighing between just 300 and 700 grams.  Two ‘Ocean Specification’ models are also available, constructed with extra laminate for increased durability.
